Hi, frustrated newbie needs help

Hi, I am currently designing a site containing a flash banner and I'm trying to bypass Internet Explorer security. I think this is done by inserting a line before the HTML tag that goes something like

<!-- saved from url=(001)http://www.mysite.com/ -->

can anyone explain how it works and how I implement this?

My eternal gratitude awaits!

Barabajagal.

Surely the important question is - 'Why are you trying to circumvent security?'

It's there for a reason.

You mean the recent update where you have to click to activate the flash app?

You can find all it does and the solutions at the following link:

Re: Hi, frustrated newbie needs help

Thanks a lot sypher, I was just hoping to bypass the information bar saying IE has blocked ative content blah blah.I knew it could be done and I think I've just found the answer on the link you gave me.

Oh and ukgeoff, it's not for anything dodgy it's just that active content is an important part of my site and just want it to download without any hassle.

The solution

The good thing about all of this is that there is a way to solve it. The patent only concerns embedded content, not content from an external source.
Simply speaking instead of adding the applet, embed or object tag directly to the page, you add it using an external JavaScript file.
Microsoft has published a technical description of how to do this. But in terms of complexity, this is quite simply disastrous.
Another dodgy workaround for a problem we shouldn't have, carefully programmed by our dear friends at Microsoft...
