I guess this is my debut as a Webforumz member so here goes. I have been in the Software QA and software testing field for 30+ years including web design and review for the last 5 years. Moved to the Smoky Mountains last year to get away from the rat race in San Diego, CA. I have also designed 3 active websites which I do as a hobby. Hope to learn more and meet new friends through Webforumz.

Re: Hi from the Smoky Mountains
Looking at your age and Experience, LoL I think you should immediately apply for "as per Rob's Announcement" the moderators designation though you are a newbie here.
Well i know Quality assurance and testing is a hectic job and many of my friends still struggling to get a better department than QA. Yeah thats a fact, the overall satisfaction ratio in QA job is -ve in most of the IT companies. But i believe it is a challenging job and not every one can bear the pains. Testing may be passion for some and for some its like a nightmare, ahh atleast not for me. i did QA for UI also in the past and i enjoyed. well am still 23 and looking forward to learn from your 30+ experience. Re: Hi from the Smoky Mountains
I love software QA work with it be desktop, websites or web applications. It is challenging and aggrevating at the same time. What makes the QA job hectic is management and changing deadlines which QA has no control over. Management makes promises to the customer and QA has to make sure it's done by then for delivery. If it means the testing time gets cut short, you let mangement decide what testing gets cut. That way the ball gets dropped in their court if something goes wrong. Maybe I should write a book about the "real" QA job.

Re: Hi from the Smoky Mountains
Thanks Rob,
But I'm alittle puzzled - you stated you have 25 years behind you in IT but your posted age shows 32. Were you a child prodigy? BTW.. I'd be glad to share my software QA knowledge with anyone who has questions. Or maybe start a forum on software/web QA. |
