Re: Hello and do you think you need to be gifted?

Hi Rob, welcome to Webforumz! Well I'm 36 and I only started getting into this web design stuff in February of this year, so I definitely don't think it's too late at 32. I don't think you have to be gifted - obviously if helps if you have a flair for design, but plenty don't, including me! But I really enjoy it and I'm learning all the time. You should definitely give it a go. Yes start with html and css and once you've got to grips with those, then think about what next.

Ask lots of questions on here as you go

Hi Ya, Rob. You are never to old to start learning web design. Creativity and artistic skills are fine, but good coding and an understanding of what your clients need will get you lots farther. As for languages, HTML is good and add CSS. Since they really work together is is best to learn together. You are lucky in that there are lots of free learning tool on the web for both languages.

Hi, Rob. Welcome on board. I think it's more important that you have committment to learn the skills needed, and to your client (and to yourself and family, of course), particularly if you consider self-employment.

Initially you'll find your own eclectic style, and then it may become more individual. Don't worry about it. Just have fun doing it.

Hi, Rob. You're not too old, you never can be. You'll pick up the basics in no time and then you can really start to have fun. I don't believe in the concept of talent so I guess that answers that question. Look around at other sites, look into objects, photos, works of art, anything. What is that makes them succeed or fail, the colour, the composition, is it their surroundings. Become aware of the way things look and why they look that way. Web design is about form and function working together, you can learn design skills just as you can any other, all it takes is a little time.

Welcome to webforumz, I hope you like it here.

Pete.

Your never too old as all have said above, if you can commit to learning and admit when things go wrong you should not have a problem. You have come across a good forum to have as a fall back net, like a lot of our members here.
If your lost or stuck ask away and your questions will be answered.
Good luck and please don't be a stranger to us.
