Smile Wow

Now I'm hooked. I'm a huge fan of 70's Prog Rock Dutch band Focus and Jan Akkerman. I went to your shop and searched for Focus and Akkerman. You have lots of stuff by them both!!!!

Havent bought anything yet as I'm spoilt for choice but I will.

Now this is what I call a Forum!

(For all of you under 40, Focus and Akkerman will mean little or nothing. You have no idea what you are missing but warning - dont try Focus Con Proby or Focus 8 and dont try Akkerman unless you like Jazz or Blues).

Re: Wow

Not sure if I`m allowed to do this, but maybe this will entice peeps to buy here at webforumz (support webforumz- this place is cool, and so are it`s members!) Just listen to Hocus Pocus!-

I think that is by far the coolest rock tune with yodeling in it ever!

Hello and welcome, CharlesR

Re: Wow

Well, it`s true- people usually listen to music that they grew up with. But that shouldn`t really matter. I like music from all eras, including classical, jazz etc. But then, music is my profession...

I think Hocus Pocus is probably Focus`s best known song- it`s a tad repetetive, but I maintain that it`s both cool, and funny.

Hey CharlesR- what`s your fave Focus tune? Seeing as you`re a big fan and all...

Question Re: Wow

Can't say Hocus Pocus is my favourite but the shorter US version is good. Favourite Focus track is Sylvia (their other hit) but also like Love Remembered and Soft Vanilla/Hard Vanilla from Mother Focus. Also Focus 2 & Focus 3 are tracks I listen to a lot. Big Jan Akkerman fan mainly. If anyone lives near the West Midlands, he is appearing in concert at the Robin 2 RnB Club in Bilston on 22 February.

Ivyholly - what profession (musically) are you involved in?

Happy New Year
Charles

Re: Wow

Happy New Year CharlesR,

Um, I think my profile says, musician, music teacher...hrmph!

Definitely gonna check out more tunes by Focus- Hocus Pocus is the only one I know (so far). I really like prog rock, in general.

As for being driven nuts, yer too late!

Seriously, to answer your question- umm...er...hmm...I`m pretty sure there`s at least one other, or something I`ve heard in a rock tune that resembles yodeling...I just can`t remember though, without cheating and googling rock yodeling or somesuch.

Re: Wow

I just learnt to play "cannon in D" on my guitar. It's a nice classical song, which is suprising for me!
