Database experts please help!
My name's Amir, I'm starting a company that is basically an online directory/ phonebook for a specific group of people. I'm trying to make a searchable database with about 10,000 names in it as well as addresses, emails, etc., this database has to be viewable from my homepage and should follow a style consistent with the homepage/ website. I'm new to web development and database creation, but I've worked as a graphic designer so I have a good understanding of the design of a website (not so much the implementation). If anyone has any advice to start me in the right direction I'd appreciate it!
thanks, Amir ps- i was thinking about using dreamweaver to develop the site. Last edited by AmirKhan; May 21st, 2007 at 16:20. |

Re: Database experts please help!
Did you know if you dream about a weaver you'll wake up with a knitted nightie on - its quite scary actually. I remember it happened to someone once and he had a really long dream and ended up with a new knitted bed plonked right on top of him! Funny that isn't it.
Anyway I dunno what that was all about - if someone knows please let me know. Oh and hello there? Have you come to play? Yes? Well go get your own toys - these are mine! and I don't share *sticks tongue out*

Re: Database experts please help!
wow, mysql seems to be what i need. I was thinking of using filemaker pro, which is a great database tool, but its web publishing features seemed super restrictive. thank you for the advice!
