Howdy!, New Here. Help?

Hello to everyone on this forum!, im new here and also a little new to webdeveloping(whatever its called). I have the basics of html down and was wondering where I could get free tutorial on-line. Also I assume inorder to learn how to build a decent site I should first learn html, css, then ??? please spare the time to explain this to me and maybe tell me what is the BEST books I can buy that will teach me from html to javascript or whatever their is to learn, inorder to create and maintain a professional site that in time I will eventually accomplish! Thank You so MUCH for taking your time in helping a newb.

http://www.w3schools.com is a great place to start

yeah, thank you for the warm welcoming. Their is one more thing I've been meaning to ask... It's about the 'div' property, what is the purpose of 'div'? If not for layouts then for what purpose? Sorry for asking newb questions.
