Happy To Join You

Hi all Forum Members:

I am excited as a new member of this esteemed forum. I want to learn more about HTML and Web Designing. My background is in Engineering and litle knowledge of HTML coding. As a result, I will solicit patience from all as I ask lots of questions in my learning process. However, I will gladly offer assistance whenever my limited skills permit me.

Together we all can attain greatness.

Thanks.

SLOWMO

Thanks.

Welcome aboard Slowmo!

What kind of engineering background d'you come from? I'm studying to be a 'software engineer', although it gives me a bSc, rather than a bEng - I wonder if I still qualify as an engineer?
hrmm, sorry for rambling!

I hope you love it here as much as we do!

Snow:

My background is Transportaion Engineering, MS level. I work in that capacity with a State Agency since 1984. I am looking to retire by setting up a Website design business. Do you think I should go back to school to learn more than relying on codes by others in order to be effective?

Yes, there are many branches of Engineering and I think Software Engineering qualifies you as one especially nowadays of computing.

I admire your pursuit. keep up the good work. I am enjoying the forum already.

Re: Happy To Join You

Transportaion Engineering has always sounded fascinating to me. I could understand that you might want a change though - you've been working in the area a fair few years!

That's a tough call - if you could find the right level of course for you in the right areas, I'm sure it would speed up the learning process considerably. However, (especially with the basics) there is such a vast resource online for most aspects of web-design, that anyone can learn as effectively as they desire, as long as they put the graft in. I think it probably boils down to where you've progressed to so far, and your own preferred method of learning... I'm sure other's would have a more enlightened opinion than mine!
