Allow myself to introduce..... myself

Hows it goin everyone? My name is Johnny. I am a 21 year old student residing in central PA. I am attending the Art Institute of Pittsburgh for Multimedia/Webdesign, and I just love it! Hopefully by the end of the summer, I would like to launch my own design firm, called Cage-In Creations (http://www.cage-in.com). Theres not much there yet though. Never the less, I have a lot of projects in development right now, and would love to get some feedback from other designers before I put them up for the world to see! I have a vast array of interests from karate, to magic, to breakdancing, to guitar, to drawing, and just about everything in between. For anything else, just send me a message!

Hi and welcome!

Forgive my ignorance of American States (especially if you're not referring to one), but what does PA stand for?

The splash looks very good and I look forward to seeing the site. The fly is a nice touch. However in Mozilla and Opera the grey in your PNG doesn't match the grey background of the page? I'm not sure why it works in IE.

Pennsylvania. It's like Transylvania without the cool stuff.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. While we're discussing the rest of my site, here is a screenshot of what I am aspiring it to look like. Please, give me comments and feedback! All suggestions will definitely be taken into consideration.

The site will be designed primarly using flash, hooked up to an SQL Database. What are your thoughts?

Johnny C.

Your choice of colours is certainly... interesting!! I think they all go apart from the yellow on your navigation... it doesn't quite seem to work for me. What does everyone else think?

I also think your navigation buttons (top and bottom) could be done in a better way. They almost seem forgotten and tacked on. It would be better if you could integrate them into the design more and perhaps eliminate the yellow on them at the same time? Straight underneath "Recent projects" you have 3 cool looking images. Maybe you could make your navigation look like that, with an image for each link and perhaps an animation on mouseover for each one? Things like that tend to encourage the user to explore the site and if the animation is compact and interesting, most users get a kick out of it.

Then again, if you're not too good at the animation side of things you might want to give that a miss [:P]. I'm sure there's many ways of doing this so do what you think is best.

Apart from that, I think it looks good and it'll be interesting to see, although I am a little dissapointed that the fly isn't making such an important appearance in the real site... I think a fly-based site, perhaps with the fly going from one piece of content to another as you browse would have been very interesting.

it looks rushed, you should spend more time and concentrate on the small details like you did with your splash page!
