Hello everybody!

First, let me say that our Moderator's cat has more knowledge of HTML than I do, and this is why I joined this forum. Already, it feels great to be here, I feel as though I'm in the company of friends.

My main problem is with my Blogger Template, not in itself causing trouble, it's just that I want to format some text I put into the sidebar, I want it the same as the default text there, but there appears to be no way to format this text without getting my hands around some HTML. But the catch is I am a complete novice.

I hope soneone here can help.

Welcome to the forums!

I don't know if it's because I'm tired, but I honestly have no idea what you're talking about, lol! What exactly are you trying to accomplish and what are the restrictions?

Here's mine: http://knitalongs.blogspot.com

The button is kind of ugly...but here's how I did it. I'm sure that more advanced people have a better/easier/nifty way, so chime in nerds.

I went to blogger settings at the dashboard. Then I clicked on template. This is where you can change your template style or whatever. I clicked on Edit As HTML. Before you go any further, you might want to save a copy of your blog or try this on a new one. There is no limit to how many blogs you can have under your account.

Scroll all the way through the coding until you see this:

<div id="sidebar">

I just C&P from the UL code for my contributors on my blog, but if you don't have that you can just use this, I think.

<h2 class="sidebar-title">Links</h2>

<ul>[*]Knitting Help
<li class='profile-link'>Weekly Chat
Change the URL in between the " " to the link you want, and then chance the text between the > and </a> to an appropriate title for your link.

You might have to tweak it a little to match your blog template or something, but other than that it should work OK.

I'm not sure why blogger doesn't give you a spot for links...but on the other hand give you notes in the template on how to add other stuff in the sidebar. It really stinks...takes a long time to scroll through all of that nonsense just to add some links!!!

Good luck with yer blog.
