I owe you guys an apology

I need to apologize to you guys for something you were not even aware of.

As I stated in another area I am currently creating a Real Estate Website for my wife. And learning quite a bit along the way.

The apology is due to when I first decided to do this.

I thought to myself:, “ Shoot, this can’t be that hard. How much work can it really take to make a Website?”.

Well guys, I am getting religion in a big hurry here!

This is WORK- and I mean hard work.

I just spent the last hour and a half plugging in links to local Elementary schools- and I haven’t even started the Middle or High Schools yet.

I don’t know what you guys get for designing web sites but I doubt it is enough.

You look at these things on the internet and you have no idea how much sweat and blood went into them.

I started this morning at 9:30am and it is now 10:45pm and what I have gotten done you could put in a thimble.

I thought before I took this on that the Web Authoring programs would make what you guys do obsolete, at least for the people who were willing to go buy the program and make their own.

I now know better.

You may lose customers long enough for them to try it themselves. But in a week they will be back crying on your doorstep.

You have my respect- this is not as easy as it looks.

its important that you learn about the things that can make your life easier when building a site, like server side includes (SSI) and style sheets (CSS), using these will save you alot of time.

There are so many conflicting technologies and design moves so quickly, in terms of trends and technology, that I don't believe web authoring programs will make us obsolete for a long time.

I use Flash but, I don't get 'Flashy' if you know what I mean and it still took me a looong time to build my website between working a 'job-job', freelance work, art, etc. For me, i'm waaay less than a novice when it comes to coding with HTML. Aw heck, i'm a freehand illustrator, go figure... I just cannot afford to hire someone to build my website. Some peeps want $100 and hour and even more when dealing with Flash. So, I learned just enough to be able to upload a 'website' that seems to be okay for now. Could it be 'better' ofcoarse...it can always be 'better' but, a lot of the 'better' could be centered around personal opinions. Also, they have templates available that may help you along.

Hi Proton.... as far as real estate applications go, i totally know where you are coming from.

Having spent the best part of two years perfecting my website product for real estate agents:-

Yeah, its a tough game.... but we I think most of us enjoy the challenge.

Keep up the good work!
