Gee I hope I'm doing this right.

Hello forum members! I just signed up and am looking forward to learning to do web design for my own purpose. I've tried a couple of times and seemed to get "painted into a corner" so I'm aware that there is more to it than what I know already.

In terms of revealing a bit of myself, I'm a native Oregonian and have worked most of my adult life in radio broadcasting. My goal is to work independently as a voice talent and that means using one or more websites. I've seen some rather spectacular websites from people who are established in the voice-over industry; I really don't need to be real fancy. Just need to have a "presence" on the web where I can post demos to play and a "download" page to post projects for delivery.

One of the most interesting things about using the Internet is the opportunity to connect with people near and far that one would never know of. It makes the world seem smaller (as a large neighborhood, not as a shrinking land-mass.)

I am looking forward to learning the skills required.

On a cautionary note,
I would not put your email address in your posts.
why?
Webforumz.com and practically every other website is frequented by bots. We do our best to block them, but some get through.
There are good bots, and bad bots. Bad bots usual sole existance is to crawl websites looking for email addresses to create huge lists of them. You are then left wondering where all the spam comes from... well, wonder no more

I would start with trying to learn XHTML/CSS, that will get you started with a really nice hopefully valid website. Most important thing is just to have fun, and learn as much as you can!!
