Re: New Member seeking critique
Thanks all for the welcomez...
Ryan and you all probably agree on his opinion on the frames. I agree also but when I started this project it was 2 years ago and I continued to add to it over those years and now: I wish it could all be in AJAX. Maybe v3.0 will be in AJAX or I should say I would like it to be in AJAX. I mostly focused on the features and getting them to work which I have to say has been a bitch of a time. I probably should have come here two years ago. The hardest thing that I had to do was making the on screen design the same as the pdf. As you all know it's a pretty difficult job to have a dynamic image look the same in a pdf file with all the fonts and graphics lining up properly. In v2.0 I kinda solved the problem by actually creating the pdf and then converting it to a image so what you see is what the pdf will actually be. But, the one problem with this is it takes alot of processing power to create a 16' x 8' banner, convert it to an image for online viewing and have it done quickly. So I now create the pdf for actual screen size and the master pdf would be for downloading when the design is done. The problem with this is, for example, a 16" x 8" design pdf doesn't line things up the same way as a 16' x 8' design. It took some heavy duty math formula to get this close and I still need to tweek it some more yet. It still gets better results then trying to convert a GD Library image to a pdf though. I've added alot of new features to the v2.0 but the two features I haven't been able to add, because the technology isn't there yet, is adding arc text and converting a pdf file that has transparent images to a image while keeping the image's transparency. For some reason Ghostscript just can't convert the images properly. As for the arc text, it may be done by actually arcing the text in a postscript formated file with some kind of formula. I'm not that informed on the postscript language yet to be able to do this. As for the tables, what other technique would be better to line things up, besides using flash? Thanks, Tony |
