Site looks good in FF but has lines in IE

Well, I am trying to convert my site from html to xhtml . I started with my site that validated html. Then used the plugin for firefox called tidy that will Point out html goofs. I set it to xhtml and had it recode the generated page. Well it looks good in firefox but its generates lines in good old IE.

Any idea how to fix this. I would assume its cellpadding or cellspacing issue or something.

Actually the site doesn't look good in FF. It looks like some elements are out of place.

The W3C xhtml validator has 83 errors and the css won't validate at all because the xhtml won't validate but I can tell you from looking at it with my Firefox tools that there is a shedload of css errors too.

I think fixing these is the place to start.

Oh and if you are going to the trouble of converting to xhtml, get rid of all those table bits as layout devices in favour of div's.

If your going to do it, do it properly.

Re: Site looks good in FF but has lines in IE

I know some things need to go up or down afew px. in the header. I was cosentrating on the lines that are between some of the elements in IE I started going the the css file.

Yea, i was going to try to loose the tables for divs. I payed someone to do this and they pretty much left me high and dry. So i thought i would try myself. Don't want to get stiffed again our of my money.
