NAV BAR WIERED IN ie6

check my portfolio link at the bottom.

just viewing the page in work in IE6 and the nav bar is all over the place on all of the pages except 'contacts' page??

any suggestions to why that may be. it must be a html prob as they all use the same css but the html is identical apart from the 1st line of the doc type was obmitted from the php 4 the script to work. this couldn't have cause this though??.. could it?

it should work fine in firefox and ie7 but if anyone can find any other bad faults, please let me know.

still under construction - http://www.paulcurley.com

Re: NAV BAR WIERED IN ie6

Nav bar not the only differences.

To start with, get rid of this line from the top of your pages:
Code: Select all
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
It is not madatory and it throws IE6 in to quirks mode.

Do this and still see if there are problems.

Checked your 'Contacts' page and this line is missing.

Re: NAV BAR WIERED IN ie6

cheers, that worked a perfectly!

i thought that was mandatory..... doh. another lessoned learned.

still have the same problem in IE 5, but i'll try get that 1 myself.

if you don't mind, could you point out any of the 'other' differences you saw?

I know of the header image backgrounds, especially if you have a mac or linux i would appriciate your input.

The words;

My Portfolio, Recent Web Sites, Glasgow Gallery and Achnabobane

have a pale bluish-grey background in IE but not in Firefox or Opera. The horizontal line after the section on My Portfolio is a different colour in IE.

Re: NAV BAR WIERED IN ie6

cheers, the pale backgrounds i know about... actually trying to fix the now. its because i use png transparency which isn't supported by ie (<)7. bit of a pain though cause i'm loosing the quality of image when i change it to a gif!!! might have to create a neat background i think?

and the hr will be a diff color because once again firefox, opera don't recognise the color adn therefore show it as black so i can't fix that other than make it black in ie and poeple suggested coloring it. might change it, but i don't think it is that big a deal.

thnks again mate

I suggest that you give your navigational links some visual feedback when the mouse hovers over them...
