Hi all.
Phew! it's me again already. I would like any help you could offer on how i can get my webpages to download faster to the browser my potential viewers can see if they are only using a 56k modem....(dial up).... i currently have broadband and front page (oooh) tells me i have some slow pages ranging from..30 seconds to a massive 365 seconds.....i have tried to make the images smaller in detail and crop to an inch of visibility and says it's still taking ages......any help would be appreciated....oh i realise the answer would be get them to upgrade to broadband...but is there any other way..... Could i for example chop out some spaces in the html to make it seem compact, or it's not gonna help? Thanks to all who can help Tom GF. |

Re: Faster downloading pages from my website to browser
A link would be good. But yeah you should recycle as many elements as you can, make sure your image files are small as possible and of course lean and mean semantic markup.

Re: Faster downloading pages from my website to browser
What I meant was using CSS etc you can comprise a very nice layout using only say 3 very small images. http://www.newguyinennis.com for example. The entire layout is 3 or 4 images used. Loads fast, printer friendly etc etc... Check the source and the CSS to see what I mean.

Re: Faster downloading pages from my website to browser
Also, any common page code such as navigation, header, etc., should be in seperate files that are 'included' into your pages.
Because the browser caches files, these only get loaded when the first page is called and then reused with subsequent pages. Can make a huge difference to download speed. |
