Font Problems

Hi, I’m new at this so I haven’t got a clue if I’m posting this in the right forum or not But some of the fonts I use on my site (www.crimsonnight.com) don't load on some computers (because they don't have them installed). Is there an easy way to correct this, such as running script that automatically downloads the fonts or at least temporarily displays them? (Please explain in as simple a way as possible, because I’m kind of a novice ) or if possible paste the script on for me to copy into the HTML code. Thanks

You should use fonts that are "web-safe" ie. are pre-installed on your audiences machine.
If you don't wish to observe this courtesy to your audience, you could also 'embed' the font so it downloads with the webpage.
There are two problems in doing this;
1) Font files are large and will lengthen the time it takes to download and install on your viewer's machine.
2) You're forcing your viewer to install something on his machine without giving him the option. With fonts it could be argued that this is for your benefit, not the visitors.

I would strongly advise against this practice.

Do you think I should 'print screen' the pages of my site from my computer and cut out the words with the fonts displayed correctly and upload them as jpegs?

Why do you need it to display in these 'special' fonts?

They're usually used in design rather than page text.

try that just delete 1 fo the fonts on there and put what ever you font is in the space

then you havn't got to download any fonts or mess about tryin to veiw i spose

Well I feel they're necessary for the titles and would like to include them if possible T_T So how exactly do I embed fonts?

If it's just for titles and you feel they're that necessary, I would make it a jpg image (maybe gif if you keep the quality and reduce the file size). Just remember to keep the file size small so it doesn't delay you visitors.

Yeah, if this is just for titles and you really want to have that text font. Then you should make them gif's. Hope I helped.

Yes it does, thanks guys, I was just wondering if there was an easier way around it but I guess not; oh well thanks anyway ^_^

Fonts can be embedded and you can force the ser to d/l them but that adds to load times etc. Best bet, type out what you want, and make it a graphic.

OK, Ive checked it out and it looks really good, Ive looked at the guides on how to use it etc. but I still don't get it T_T Can somebody please explain to me exactly how i use it and how to incorperate it into NetObjects Fusion 8. Thanks ^_^

I haven't had the chance to actually use it. I've merely stored it for reference. I would imagine, however, that you're going to have to delve into the source code to implement it.

Well you can embed fonts in HTML or with CSS, just you have to force the user to d/l them which is eh... Then of course some firewalls etc may block it I would assume. but as long as you provide a safe alternative all is well.
