any way , im a bit of a noob on website design so u will have to help me in dummie language.And i am using Nvu

i am using a template for my website :

i download it and unzip it .

then i open geocities(Crappy free hosting just to test and see if it works before buying)

and i upload all the files in the folder and it turns out like this :

Any help?

Just had a look at your replacement upload.

It looks like a page in a text browser which suggests the css is missing.

Check that when you do the upload, the directory structure specified in your main file for linking to css files and the like is still valid. This might also account for why the images are missing.

In whichever browser you are using use the menu option that lets you view the page code.

See all that stuff above the DOCTYPE line - that has to go as the DOCTYPE line must be the first line in your code.

Slightly further down the page are some @import commands with the url for the css files given such that it expects to find them in a directory called css one level down from the directory your page is in.

And so on.

If you don't understand anything of what I'm saying, then you are not really ready for this. You need to do a lot more reading up of the basics of how to put a web page together.

The 1st link you provided seems to link back to the site you got the template from rather than the template itself.

without sounding harsh, it seems like you know nothing whatsoever about web design (which is not a bad thing, everybody was a newbie once)

but you are trying to run beofre you can walk. that is a very complicated template. you would be much better off downloading the trial version of dreamweaver, and learn some very basic html conding. just learn basic tags, like how to put text on a page:

<p>your text goes here</p>

you will pick it up very quicky, and with no knowledge a template will not help you one little bit.

Sit down. Learn basic HTML... I mean basic. Rome wasn't built in a day.

look here to see some nice simple tutorials and things.

Don't think we're being harsh.. every one of us was in your position at some stage. All you need to do is learn to crawl then walk then run.
