Quick Search with drop down lists... PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi all,

Im trying to make a quick search option on my website where the user can jump to a specific page by choosing their destination from the first drop down list then their trip type from the second list. once these have been chosen they can then hit the search button which takes them straight there.

I dont have much web experience as this is my first attempt at a site in dreamweaver so i dont even know if this is really possible. If it is, how do i make this functional? any help much appreciated

Dynamic is your answer. PHP or ASP depending on what your hosting supports.

Yep, unfortunatley if you're a beginner, you've got your work cut out.

Basically how it'll work is you'll have a database server side that has details of all your locations, and trip types and also how they relate to each other.

For example, if the person chooses London for the destination and train for the trip type (Sorry if this isn't the correct context)

The database will be searched for all trips to london by train. It will then display the results on a page which you can format to your liking.

It'll be hard work but worth it if you get it working oK.

there are non dynamic ways of doing this but they are messy and not as helpful in the slightest.

Thanks guys for your quick response. Gotta love the forum! I've opted for a jump to menu instead to save the headache, and this is actually a quicker way for the user to search. (instead of selecting from two menus).
