Rollover Images in diff cells

Hi Folks,

I am fairly new to web design and use Macromedia MX. I would appreciate your help with the following....

I want to create mouse over effect where simply running the mouse over a number of different small images will make a different image either expand or appear in a seperate area of the page.

For example I want a row of thumbnail photos to individually appear as full size in a main photoframe when you mouse over.

Normal rollover images in Dreamweaver only appear in the same cell as the original image. Is there a simple way to make them appear somewhere else?

Would appreciate any help yo9u can give.

Herkalees did a similar thing if you click the images on the left, it brings up new info without having to change pages.

Now if you want the dreamweaver version (its not very good as it tends to have problems)
Make a new layer and put in there the content you want to show, give the layer an id (name) and set it to hidden.
Highlight some text and go to behaviours > Show Hide layers
Choose to show the layer that you have just made, you can set the mousefunction to which ever you want.

I remember something about this from my dreamweaver and fireworks training... You can set up behaviours to show/hide layers (divs). this includes a fair chunk of javascript but it can be done....

And it's through a GUI so its n00b friendly.

thanks for all your help. Got it working by using layers and link behaviours as suggested.

Only tested it in IE so far but it works fine, once I get the site somewhere near ready I will post it on the forum.

I think the behavior and layers thing will solve quite a few of my problems. Looks like I will be able to use it for bits of animation with timelines as well. Probably easier messing around with that than trying to work out how to use Flash at the moment!
