Page validation

I have read a few threads here where people are asking about how to make a page with an embedded flash file validate. The answer often seems to be to use a script. I know the scripts recommended have more benefits than just making the page validate, but if you are using script just to make a page validate, it seems pointless to me. Although the W3C validator won't mark it as invalid, the script is still inserting an invalid <embed> element.

Wouldn't it be better to just have a page that doesn't validate than one that validates but uses script to insert the invalid elements?

Yes.

If you're going to write invalid code, at least do so honestly.

Something like SWFObject does have its benefits, besides 'valid' markup. Namely it's a great way to serve up alternate content and it fixes the IE7 'ActiveX' required click.
