frames in dreamweaver
so i have encountered a problemo....
The main content of my page was created in fireworks and saved and instered as a jpg image into dreamwever. (So i'll be using it with hotspots etc) Well, for the bulk texti need to put a frame on top of this main image (i need to use a frame as opposed to just a layer as i need to put in a scroll bar with this text and i think a frame is the only way right?) Anyway, i cant figure out how to do it cos all the 'frame' options are faded out so i cant select them!!!! Can anyone enlighten me??±!??! please!!!! Thanks x |

Re: frames in dreamweaver
You need autoflow. Look for the previous thread in the same forum as this about it.

Re: frames in dreamweaver
Frames = Evil...
You can scroll text within a div.... That may sort of help you. Don't know really without something to look at. Avoid using frames at all costs. They suck... seriously.

Re: frames in dreamweaver
thanks
yeah i dont wanna use frames really so hopefully using a div will help. Still cant figure out how to insert the div ON TOP of the baground image i have. Basically, as seen in the attached i need just like a scroll box that i can use to put the bulk text of each new page - (i have to do the text in dreamweaver cos i need the text to be zoomable for accessibility issues) Hope that makes sense..... Cos when i insert a table or a div at the moment it just places it outside of the image, like to the left or at the bottom - so im like whaaaaat!??!? x ![]() |

Re: frames in dreamweaver
Thats why you create a "container" div with a background image and then place everything else within that. have a play around with z-index if all else fails but you shouldn't need to.
Define all your background images in CSS. That should sort you out.

Re: frames in dreamweaver
Right , i have solved the problem that i previously noted about. Oh my goodness how dumb was i being. Sometimes you just miss out a teeny tiny thing and it all goes proper wrong doesnt it!
Anyway , i just thought id update in case it helps any randoms that might look through here. Basically i think the problem with the bg image not appearing was because in the Dreamweaver preferences i needed to check the box referring to 'nesting' layers. And also , i regarding the scroll box all i needed to do was select the layer (that im putting text in) and then in the property inspector select 'autoflow' as 'scroll' and hey presto , i now have a scrollbar if i need it. So simple. Oopsi - thanks to all for the help though dudes! x |
