I explain <link rel="subsection"> in the tutorial.

<link rev="..."> is a reverse relationship. Here's the difference:
  • <link rel="subsection" href="somePage.html"> means "somePage.html is a subsection of the current page."
  • <link rev="subsection" href="somePage.html"> means "the current page is a subsection of somePage.html."
More abstractly, let Pxy define a relation "y relates to x in manner P". Let x be the current page. Then:
  • <link rel="P" href="y"> = Pxy
  • <link rev="P" href="y"> = Pyx
Sometimes you can specify a relation using either rel or rev. For example, <link rev="subsection"> or <link rel="up">. Arguably rev="subsection" is more precise, but it may not enjoy such good browser support. This is one for me to test! Thanks for the prompt.
