Character length limit on TITLE attribute?

I came up with a slightly leaner way to do my image gallery; move the javascript caller "changeImage()" to the image's onclick event, as well as change the value of the imgTitle and imgDesc values to send over to "this.alt" and possibly "this.title" respectively, but i just want to check something: is there a limit to the length of the title attribute? I'm not talking about anything that long, 100 characters at most, which i can easily chop down.

If you can think of another attribute i could use to hold the description part of it, let me know.

Thanks

Re: Character length limit on TITLE attribute?

I do not think there are any limits. Just as long as there are no weird punctuation marks or odd characters that might break the code...

Yes, swagner is right although if your title is too long, the browser will truncate it and add "..." to the end. I think it varies between browsers. I heard that mozilla truncates at about 90 charachters.

Hope this helps!
