what ftp to use?

Hi,

Hope this is the right forum to post in!

Can anyone recommend a good free ftp programme to use? I currently use aceftp but recently have been having problems with it. Would welcome suggestions!

Thanks

Re: what ftp to use?

If it is a free program - I actually use Internet Explorer at times. I have CoreFTP that I like but every so often, MS IE works well.

Just go to Tools - Internet Options and go to the Advanced Tab. Under Browsing, make sure that Enable folder view for FTP is checked.

Re: what ftp to use?

I have seen similar threads all over the net. The two free ones that get the most nods are SmartFTP and FileZilla. I use both, but generally I use FileZilla because it can handle SSH whereas SmartFTP can't, unless a new update has come out that I don't know about. This is assuming you are using Windows, otherwise these two programs won't run. It would help if you told us your OS.

Re: what ftp to use?

I take it you are using a PC ? or are you using a mac?
I use Transmit for my FTP program and I am in love with it but I think its for the mac OS only. If you are using a PC then i think there is somthing called CuteFTP that I have heard good things about. Then there is always IE which I dont see why people dont use more often because its really easy to use.

My 2 cents.

FlashFXP for me, although at work we use Voyager, which is also not bad, but I prefer FlashFXP - it's not free though.

Re: what ftp to use?

SweetLou has the right adea, smartftp and filezilla are the best free ftp progs you will find, with the most features. Honestly, filezilla will do pretty much everything you will need, and its a nice program.

Re: what ftp to use?

I use FireFTP (an extension for Fire Fox). I personally like it as it opens in another tab and is very easy to use.

Update: Here is the link for it - https://addons.mozilla.org/extension...cation=firefox

I hope you find a good one, once you settle on one let us know so others might be able to benefit from it. As the site search is key to finding things.

Re: what ftp to use?

I'm a big fan of SmartFTP myself. It takes minimum effort for great results.
