website clicker?

Hi,
someone emailed saying someone told them a web clicker increases traffic, problem is i don't know what a web clicker is (i thought it was an alternative name for a counter) but don't see how that increases traffic. Can anyone tell me what a clicker is and what it does?

Dont listen to spam email
Just do normal SEO that will increase your traffic, not tacky tools.

No it wasn't spam, someone was telling me they had been recommended to put a "clicker" on their site and wanted to know what one is. I have no idea other than thinking it was a counter.
I imagine if there is such a thing it would get your site black listed if it was detected anyway but just out of interest wanted to know what exactly it is

It's possible that they are refering to tools that will automatically browse a site and click adverts..... these tools are highly against all ad-network terms and conditions.... they are also highly immoral and most probabally illegal.

The will doubtless increase traffic on your site but ask yourself.... is an automated application really interested in your services / products?

..... I think not....

What you need is a good deal of SEO work on your website to bring in real traffic... real people... with real money to spend..... targetted traffic is the key.

Poor quality traffic just costs you money.... they dont buy... they just zap your bandwidth.

You need quality traffic.

Would you rather have 1 million visitors who buy nothing, or 100 interested visitors where you can convert 10% of them?

Re: website clicker?

Oh right, well il tell him that, he thought it somehow got more people to hit the site. whats the point of having a piece of software browse your site, would that be used for people wanting to advertise, so they can say they get more viewers?

The best way to increase traffic to your site is good content. Do that, and "they will come".

Another good way is to publish lies and accusations aimed at celebrities and top government MP's and then invite all the press to view your webpage.... submit it to slashdot, the register, et al.

It'll bring you some good traffic if you are taken seriously.

However, I'm obviously joking... dont do this.... lol
