Getting the extra space off of my frames

So I am making a website for my band.
I'm currently using frames (I know they're not he best way, but I'm going to use it unless I find a better way). On my frames though there is a lot of extra useless space that is making the design all discombobulated (sorry if I mispelled that )
Here is the site:
http://ralis.789mb.com/index.html
And yes, I know theres a big white box of nothing on the right.

So how can i make it so the top part where it says the name right in the corner, and have the other two parts directly under it while still using the frames and not having a scroll bar in the place where it says the name or the menu?

Re: Getting the extra space off of my frames

If you set a height for the header frame that is the height of the "rails" graphic you wouldn't need the scroll bar. Right now the graphic is taller than the space allowed.

In Firefox I don't see any space between the top frame and the nav and content area.

Also I dont know why for you the top part graphic is too large, for me it isn't. Perhaps your resolution isn't as large as mine right now?

Re: Getting the extra space off of my frames

I tried to get to your site to give you a screen shot of what I was seeing since it doesn't look anything like what you showed. But the site is not found. So I guess I can't!

Why you are using frames is the question. You feel there is no other way but looking at your sample you could easily do this in xhtml/css and handcoding.

Re: Getting the extra space off of my frames

Well if xhtml/css would look and work better, then I'd definately want to use it, but I know nothing about either, so yea, help would be greatly appreciated
Oh, and I don't know why it wasn't working, it worked just now when I tried it again.

Re: Getting the extra space off of my frames

there are pleanty of good sites out there that will help you learn to code a site in the css stylee. I've listed a few below that should help you get your site up a running:

CSS School from w3schools.com. — A whole lot of information, references, and examples
web design group guide to css - a little dated but a good place to start
css zen garden - an excellent guide to quality css web sites
complete css guide from westciv - excellent beginners reference guide

Once you have gone through those you should be able to code something up for your band.

Good luck and once you have something to show us post it on the forum, would be great to see the finished site.

Re: Getting the extra space off of my frames

Frames are considered bad web web design, and for good reason. Search engines don't like them, and users don't either. Back when the majority of the internet was on 28k or slower connections, the tiny amount of data that didn't have to be reloaded was nice. With frames, I can't use a wheel to scroll, I can't bookmark certain pages and accessibility is really hurt. A solid XHTML/CSS site would be the ideal way to go.
