Question Dummy needs help with html coding

I am new to html coding, but I am trying to create my listing in Ebay with a border. I am using Microsoft Word. I got these codes off the web, but don't know what I'm doing wrong. I edited the border in Word so it would be behind the text. What I want is my text to show up on the border in the center of the page. The border has flowers on the side and the rest of the space is blue. That is where I want my text. It shows up on the preview tab for the html codes, but the next preview shows the border around the whole page and the text separate. I am also having problems with the font size. It just doesn't work. I am entering the html codes diirectly into the Ebay html editing page. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The following are my codes:

<BODY BACKGROUND=http://www.hellasmultimedia.com/webimages/flowers-htm/flowers/border_flowers/border82.jpg ><TABLE WIDTH="100%">

<TD VALIGN=top>
</TD>
<TD VALIGN=top>
<!- Contents ->

<center><b><font color=yellow><FONT FACE=”Bodoni MT” SIZE=”35”>Belmont~Waverly ceramic pitcher and bowl set</font></font>

<p><font color=white>
<FONT FACE=”Berlin Sans FB Demi” SIZE=”20”>
This is a beautiful white pitcher and bowl set with pink and purple flowers on each side of pitcher. The bottom of pitcher says "Belmont Waverly Made in Thailand." <br>These items are in</font> <font color=yellow>excellent condition</font><font color=white>with the exception of just a little wear on the bottom rim of the bowl (see picture).</font></font></p>

<p><font color=black><FONT FACE=”Baskerville Old Face” SIZE=”20”>Size:
<br>Pitcher: 8" high and 7" wide at handle
<br>Bowl: 8.25" diameter and 2" deep</font></font></p>

<p><font color=yellow><FONT FACE=”Agency FB” SIZE=”20”>Thanks for looking --- and Happy Bidding!! </font></font> </p></center></b>

Re: Dummy needs help with html coding

1. yello text is very hard tu see. maby even harder if yu yuze a pik as background.
2. jenral wae tu put text next tu objekt x...put em in tabel.
tu get werds abuv and/or belo pik, yuze 3 roes
top roe=abuv werds, roe 2=pik, roe 3=werds under.
3. it sound like yu tri tu make fansee border with a pik.
The wae tu duit...make pik the background av 1 objekt (maby a div)
then put yer tabel (or wotover) on top av the div. make shuer thang on top hav background koler (wite is best).
Yu gotta size thangs rite so tabel kuver most av the div.
both gotta be sentered same. The outter x pixels av the bottom div sho around the thang on top av it.
probablee take a lot av trial & errer.

Re: Dummy needs help with html coding

Actually, the border is supposed to be on the left and there is a blue background for the content. I don't have a pic to insert. I tried a table to begin with and no luck. I've worked on this til I'm blue in the face. If I can't figure it out soon, think I'll just give up. The border is not alongside the content and it is too long up and down the page. I don't know how to shorten it or get it beside the content. I'm about ready to give up. Thanks for the info, though.

Writing like a demented fool is very hard to understand. Please, Please use proper "words".

why use word to make webpages! its not built for that. You need to move away from that, its bad practise and you will get stuck countless times. There are plenty of WYSIWHG editers around, if u must use one.

Re: Dummy needs help with html coding

Roadrunnerad,

I sell on eBay as well. I'm sure there's great tips here but you might also post your question on the Photo/HTML board on eBay Community and you might get answers more tailored to creating eBay listings w/HTML. Just a thought; hope that helps!
