Smile Viewing source when no menu bar

How do you view the source or save a web page if the menu bar has been removed? Are their some hot keys? Thanks for any thoughts!

Re: Viewing source when no menu bar

In Safari, it's command-alt-u. What browser are you doing this in?

Re: Viewing source when no menu bar

To view source, just right-click with your mouse and choose View Source. As for saving the file. You can just do ctrl+a (select all) and then ctrl+c to copy, open word and ctrl+p to paste.

She beat me to it. Its all good, I like being beaten by women. <-- tee hee ugh... oh gawd.. Friday where are you! You can run webkit browsers on windows however its not entirely accurate in rendering. It can give you some insight but I would not rely on it 100%.

Re: Viewing source when no menu bar

Right-click can be disabled by javascript. In that event, Shift+F10 will display the right-click menu.

Oh yeah. And switch to Firefox, for cryin' out loud!

Re: Viewing source when no menu bar

Thanks Donny,
I knew all other techniques but this shift+F10 was new for me. I will try to use it extensively so that I will never forget this tip by you.

With regards,
Mandar Thosar

Re: Viewing source when no menu bar

You're welcome, Mandar.

Shift+F10 and Alt+spacebar (try it!) are the two most essential keyboard shortcuts in Windows (apart from Alt+menu item accelerator key, of course). Armed with those, you can navigate Windows even if your mouse dies. Oh, yeah - Ctrl+Esc is pretty useful, too. And tab/Alt+tab/Ctrl+tab are absolute essentials as well.

Hmm. Maybe I should write a little tutorial on mouseless Windows.

Re: Viewing source when no menu bar

Please do, I'd really appreciate it. I mostly use a large gaming keyboard where I can program almost unlimited keyboard macros but I am not so familiar with the standard keyboard shortcuts (I only knew the last 4 of the ones you listed).

Re: Viewing source when no menu bar

Problem is, there doesn't seem to be an appropriate forum for it... ?

Maybe one of the mods will weigh in on that and provide me some guidance.

Re: Viewing source when no menu bar

What?!!? You mean you didn't check the Webforumz New Addons thread in the Cafe yet!?!

We have a shiny new Web Design Articles & Tutorials section now. Just post it in there. An admin or super moderator must approve it afterwards tho. And I'm not sure if Jacob fixed it yet but, there a bug when selecting "Tutorial" from the drop-down, so ... just select "Article" and later when it's fixed we'll change it
