HTML Editor

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good but easy to use HTML Editor?

I want to be able to have complete control over the HTML, something which my current Host Sitebuilder does not allow.

Thanks

Re: HTML Editor

To be honest, I suggest just using a souped up text editor. PSPad for Windows I hear is good, and if you're on a Mac, I highly recommend skEdit.

Re: HTML Editor

This question pops up near enough every day. You don't even need to search the forums, I replied to a similar post an hour ago.

pspad for windows or BBedit is my fave mac app.

Pete.

Re: HTML Editor

If only skEdit had the sidebar window view that BBEdit does... sigh. Having bought both, I still prefer skEdit, though.

Re: HTML Editor

skEdit does have a sidebar which shows all the files/folders.. You be silly.

Re: HTML Editor

Currently only works if you define a site. Then you get tabs and a side bar with all your files.

Re: HTML Editor

Oh that's snazzy. How do I get it to work with a server?

Re: HTML Editor

Expression Web is a pretty good WYSIWYG editor. Frontpage (although it is discontinued) helped people get a website online without knowing a bit of code (but the code it produced was pretty bad from time to time).

Expression Web creates compliant code for the most part - a lot better than Frontpage and probably about the same, if not better, than Dreamweaver. However, you really should know / understand the basics of HTML before trying to build a website.

Re: HTML Editor

I am starting to dig PSPad at work.

Ryan just define the site and locate the folder on the network. I do it from my laptop over VPN to a server 60 miles away. works like a champ.

Re: HTML Editor

OK ... closing this thread as well. We have enough of these "HTML editor" threads floating around.

More info on HTML Editors can be found in the sticky "HTML Editors" from Lchad above.

Re: HTML Editor

Okay, it's between moojoo and myself then I played with it for quite a while, but I still don't get it. The help section on skit.org didn't help, either.
