Media player inside HTML.

Hello everyone. I am new to WebForumz and I need some help. I work for the #1 semiconductor manufacturer in the world and I got railroaded into making a website for one of the departments. I know very little about HTML or web design but I have several tools at my disposal. I need to make a webpage with a video player inside of it and a playlist on the same page. I do not want the Media Player to pop up but rather have the video play inside the webpage. I would also like to have a list of videos on the page where one could click on the link and would not have to change pages to see the video. It would stream in from the server. Can anyone help?

Re: Media player inside HTML.

I swear I left a comment on this:

It's a shame you got stuck with this one for your first project. Creating something this complex that's up to standards is going to need a combination of a server side language (PHP or ASP two name two of them), Ajax (a combination of XML/text files with JavaScript), CSS and HTML. This is not something easy by any means. Perhaps consider asking the company to hire a freelancer. There are several sites out there where you can post projects and people will give you the prices they'll charge.

Re: Media player inside HTML.

I KNEW IT!!!

Lchad and I have both experienced posts gone missing. I'm so glad it's not in my head because this has happened before. Must be the Ajax submit thingy hiccupping.

*Edit*

I guess it's not the Ajax thing if you saw the post I made. Maybe a database problem?

Re: Media player inside HTML.

Easy!!

Use Flash, you can create playlists, and use them on one page!!

Server side scripting pfft, don't need that, just a basic Flash project'll do the trick!

*or*

EMBED tag

HTML: Select all
<embed src="folder/playlist.wpl (or other format, ie 'itl' for iTunes)" width="200" height="100" autoplay="true/false" loop="true/false"></embed>

Yes flash is a good way all you do in flash is make a mp3 player lol compatible with XML and put all your songs in a Playlist.xml file and away you go theres a few tutorials out there for this sort of thing so have a look and your get some where i am sure but the easiest way probably is the Embed Tag cause you wont need know Actionscripting lol or know other coding

Thanks
Aaron
