emaili8ng website and graphixs
Hi guys
I have a problem. I emailed a website I'd just finished for our University ICT Center I then emailed the website to my co-worker so he could post it to our main university. However, I encountered a problem. my co-worker told me that when he opened the website in his box, he noticed that the graphix weren't showing and the links didn't work. Now I'm told that when emailing a website you're supposed to add the graphix as well. How do you email the graphics and the website and how do you make sure the links are working? Please help. I'm stuck! kaz |

In terms of the links working, etc, use the same principle as we advised last time here:
http://www.webforumz.com/viewtopic.p...ghlight=#19795 To email the images as well, simply include them a long with your HTML file as an attachment. If there are lots of files to send, then try zipping them up with a program like winzip or winace. |

Did you use relative URLs when you linked to the images? If you used absolute (http://www.myuniversity.com/images/image1.jpg), you need to change them to relative (images/image1.jpg) unless they are already online or are in the specific path that is specified by the source (c:/myuniversity.com/images/image1.jpg, for example).

They are quite different. Make sure you link pages with relative links rather than links in your file system. If you have images linked to with paths like C:/wwwroot/site/images then you're asking for trouble. Personally, I'd zip up everything in winzip, make sure you've checked options to maintain folder structure. If the guy at the other end can't unzip it and restore in properly, then get one of the IT guys to look at it... they'll be able to spot the problem instantly. |
