Any way to choose to hear music? Not auto play?

Hi,

I have read through a few threads on playing music in a site. I agree, it is annoying BUT I have a client who wants it since they own a rock bar. I am wondering, with a lot of talk about the music players, if there is a way to ask the user first?

Flash and JavaScript both can do it Flash is probably the simplest and it allows you to make your own buttons and such.

I concur, flash is the best option. There are lots of free flash music players out there, you could use those and modify them to fit your needs, or you could build your own...just depends on what you want it to do.

Thank you both for the response ... could I then just have it open up when the person comes to the site and ask them somehow? I wish the client did not even want it, have tried to talk them out of it. I am just also trying to figure a way that, if they say no once, they don't have to say no each time. I am not really a programmer so any direction on that would be much appreciated as well :-)

If you use Flash, you can make it look like whatever you want (i.e. a play button with the text "Start Audio" or something to that effect). Maybe Jacob would be kind enough to throw something together for you?
