Liquid, I don't believe you need a dreamweaver book anyhow. In my opinion, dreamweaver is very easy to use to create table/layer based designs easily enough to jumpstart it. If you have been using another WYSIAWIG editor, it will be even a more painless transition for you. I believe that Frontpage ( Microsoft ) should make it easier for you to get the concept.

Gotta agree there. Dreamweaver is easy to pick up without any help whatsoever. It may seem like there are a lot of features, but they are all explained well in the documentation and on the macromedia website. That's free documentation. You really don't need a book for it.

If you have any specific questions then don't hesitate to ask us. I've been using dreamweaver for a few years and I'm familiar with most of its features.

The only really irritating thing about dreamweaver, in my opinion, is the find/replace feature which is not only VERY slow but also ridiculously buggy if you are searching through thick code for items that appear frequently. Especially if you are using dreamweaver templates... But that really won't affect most people. I would suggest that in those circumstances Notepad is actually better for replacing text...
.. But like I said, that really isn't important.

Well also all of the tutorials and built-in documentation is wonderful. I have learned most of my stuff through this method. I did buy a DreamWeaver book and I have to admit it does a great job holding my cofee table up. Thats about the only use I have gotten out of it. Start off with all of the built-in tutorials with any program. This will teach you everything you need to know to jump in headfirst. After that you will have no problems figuring out anything. Good luck to you.

Dreamweaver is not as easy as you guys think. Yes it is to you and me, 'cos we have probably been using it for years. I know a few people who have come from Frontpage or HotMetal Pro and simply cannot see where to start with DW.

Sorry I can't recommend a book :-)

Yes Jen but most of us knew HTML before we learnt Dreamweaver and so it is fairly easy to get into Dreamweaver that way. None of us have used books for it!

A quick search on Amazon shows "Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 : Training from the Source" to be the most popular book on the subject. Popularity doesn't always mean quality but it seemed to have a good customer rating on there and I've had good luck picking books this way before.

When I first opened Dreamweaver after installing it I was totally bemused... I bought Dreamweaver MX for dummies A basic book, but it gave me the start I needed.

I also bought Teach Yourself Visually Flash MX (Which I haven't looked at yet)

and

Sams Teach yourself Macromedia Fireworks MX in 24 hours... which I haven't really looked at either
