Website daily text posting
Hello all, I have a church website that I'm working on and the Pastor has a daily devotion for each day of the week. The problem is, is that I'm the one updating it every night for the following day. Is there a way or third party program (other then Dreamweaver) I can setup for him to post these entries himself?

use a content management system or buy a copy of Contribute. Or build your own basic CMS to dot he job with PHP.

Re: Website daily text posting
If its just a few paragraphs .... and your changing it everyday.... just setup a simple membership system witha text form that he can type into.
This is pretty easy to do, and wont take anywhere near as long as implementing a full cms program..... unless you just buy the cms of course |

Textpattern is free and is up and running in like 2 mins. Migrating is easy too. But all in all you need is a database and 1 form to get the job done.

Re: Website daily text posting
I would be inclined to go for the database and simple form approach for this one.
That way you could preload the database with the items for several days in advance and write the code such that they are extracted from the database in sequence. You will obviously have to get in the habit of removing used ones from time to time. |

Re: Website daily text posting
There is a program the macromedia has that you can do you can do that with. Its called contribute here's a page for it (http://www.adobe.com/products/contribute/) and i think its only $150 and you can put it on as many computers as you want. All you have to do is set it up so it connects with your site and its purely a text editor so you dont change the layout nor you you mess with the usablility. I had to use it for my school site to update over summer brake. Try it. You might like it.

Re: Website daily text posting
Nice! I like the Adobe Contribute program. I'm going to see if I can "trial" it before purchasing. I prefer a program within the Macromedia family. Though I know there are a host of other possible free ones out there. Maybe in testing I'll find one. Thank you for the link!
