Making a form for newsletter subscription

Hi all, this is my first post so i'm getting used to things around here.

ok, well i'm the manager of my friends' band, and today i've been designing their website. At the bottom, i want to create a form where users enter their email address, and then click a submit button which forwards the email address to me (i.e. "sign up to receive newsletter updates!").
I followed a tutorial, and made a form with an input text field and a submit button with a "mailto:" code in it, but it's not really what i want, since when i preview the page it tries to open outlook and manually send me a message.
Below is a screenshot showing what my code currently is, if you want to know exactly what i'm trying to achieve then look at the bottom of http://www.thelibertines.org.uk.

Please excuse me if i've got the complete wrong end of the stick, i'm somewhat of a HTML noob - although i've had about 5 websites in the past, they've never contained any real HTML or form elements, i just use dreamweaver. If you want to see the site, the index.html is here and the page i am working on is here.

Thanks for all your patience and help in advance!

PHP is the best way to go with this. Here are some ready-made scripts for you: http://hotscripts.com/search/13388603-2.html

Just to repeat what Ryan said for fun...lol, PHP is going to be the best option for you. If you want....I would be glad to help you in the process of making a PHP form. Just add me to your MSN...and remind me that you are from webforumz, and that I said I would help you make a form. My MSN handler is in my profile.

Oh and Jacob forgot to mention - he sleeps 23 hours of the day and then takes 15 minutes for breakfast, 15 minutes for lunch, 15 minutes for dinner - leaving you a 15 window to catch him online!
