Need help on advanced myspace techniques... help! in a REAL DILEMMA

Hello everybody. I seem to be in a little dilema here. I want to make a really cool fun but professional looking myspace for my girlfriends friend who owns a club. Up until now I have built pages for people here and there but they are as basic as they come. Generic layout and a bunch of pictures.

This guy wants the works. He wants his club to have the same layout as myspace.com/sierramist ------- only problem is, its a major operation! how would I design something like this? what is this advanced style of web design called?

If anyone could help me in any way or guide me in the right direction id really REALLY appreciate it since i dont know what the heck im going to do.

Thanks,

Cory!

I take it you are a beginner at web design... Dreamweaver is probably your best bet to get started.

Yeah. Dreamweaver but i dont think you can use it to make myspace sites. This is style of design is call "REAL WEB DESIGN" its how some of us in the industry make our money. If you dont know a lick of html i suggest you to take a few tutorials or just pass the job offer up and let someone who can actually build a website make the page. I dont mean to sound harsh, but web design and myspace dont go hand in hand in my book.

Just download Dreamweaver trial version and give it a go. It is going to be hard work but if u realy want to do it , than u will.
Go on http://www.w3schools.com/
good tutorials there. Good luck.
If u need any help, ask people here they will help.

I would say...why not have that club have a real website? You know...like their club name .com, that would be much more professional in my opinion.

Learn html and CSS. Then if you have questions with that... we can help What you are asking is like... "I've got a problem with my car. can you tell me how cars work." Before we can tell you how to fix your car... you have to know something about them first.
As far as myspace goes... I'm pretty sure they have lots of cool tools to design your page but I don't use it.

Re: Need help on advanced myspace techniques... help! in a REAL DILEMMA

myspace.com/josephman1988 (couldnt be bothered to validate it so may not render in FF)
This is my page, made without dreamweaver (although i do have it for emergencies)
simple as really, but because w don't know what you want, it's hard to help you.
As webrodie said, learn css first and the basics on html, because thats all you need to completely reform the profile. quickly and easily ... to an extent.

NO, I think what Cory means is to make a new website which have a similar layout like the 'myspace' url he gave..! I don't think he wants to make a 'myspace' custom layout...! And I think dreamweaver would be a shot...!!!

I honestly don't know why anyone would be fussed about making a MySpace template. That's like printing business cards on toilet paper...

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but myspace is pretty cool as a concept.... I mean, it doesnt really suit 'web design', but with some hackery, you can make cool spaces.

The functionality of myspace and the concepts are all good and lets face it...... millions of people use it, from school kids, to the most famous celebrities (in fact, an awful lot of celebs use it)

Yeah...yeah Rob. I just think it gives the wrong impression...which equals no money for me...lol I think business are thinking, I don't need a .com because I can get a myspace for FREE. But I did suck it up and build a freakin myspace, and still hate it to be honest.

Re: Need help on advanced myspace techniques... help! in a REAL DILEMMA

Surely this is what the net is about. Networking, interactivity. What's the point in this amazing interactive technology if all we're gonna use it for is publishing articles or the like. Forums, blogs (and comments) and yes, myspace have harnessed the social power of the internet and made it a better place to be. It's all part of this, dare I say it, web 2.0 phenomenon. No longer is it just the information super highway, now it is the 'interactive net'. And this forum is living proof of that. Well, not living. Virtual. Yeah, virtual proof.

And I for one am loving it.

Pete.
