Dont use frontpage, all you need is notepad and http://w3schools.com/. Learn to code using xhtml and css right from the start

Re: My First Web site

Vanilla Forums are the best I've seen. As for the designing websites, crew said it bluntly, but I concur. The best way to design websites is from scratch using a text editor. While crew suggested Notepad, this is a terrible idea. There are several programs out there that feature code completion and coloring to aid in keeping an organized XHTML document.

As for CSS, you need to understand a little bit about what is considered modern design and what isn't. You'll see tables around a lot in designs, but tables were meant for tabular data, not for designing websites. CSS allows you to do much more than tables can, but it's a little bit more difficult grasp.

Re: My First Web site

For learning how to design websites I suggest this book
http://www.amazon.com/XHTML-Sixth-Vi...e=UTF8&s=books
It is Visual Quickstart Guide:HTML, XHTML & CSS (sixth edition) by:Elizabeth Castro

Very up to date(came out this august) 400+ pages of relevent info and only $20

This is the book I'm using right now and I would definately recommend it, because it has pictures on every page that help explain the text.

P.S.~If u do end up getting this book, pay very VERY close attention to the first chapter b/c it has all of the important code in it.

Oh and also if you want to add functionality to your site you will need to know some server side scripting, php being the most popular. The best place that I could find for a basic php tutorial is: http://tizag.com
