Hi I am new and need advice
Hi everyone
I don't know if this is the correct spot to post but I would like some advice on web design if you dont mind. I wanted to start my own web design business but am quite new it is a lot I would have to learn before jumping up starting a business. I asked a couple of questions on the message board and a girl approached me about a reseller website business. Basically she would handle all the technical aspects of the business. To get started I would need $500 coseller fee setup and $25 dollar hosting fee. She said I can charge my customers anything I want but if it something I can't do I would past it to her and she would give me half of what she charged my customer. The program she use is a easy builder website program I was able to create a website in 2 mins and you can customize it anyway you want it seems very simple especially for a beginner like me. I am writing because I really need advice. Do you think I can actually make money doing this. Do you think that this website builder program is really website that customer would enjoy another is the customer would have to use her hosting for $25 a month I get a $5 commission. I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on this business desicion. Thanks for your help. |

Re: Hi I am new and need advice
the biggest problem is, that for quite a while you will not get any customers ( because you will not be listed in the search engines ) so, that means, to make any money ( or at least break even ) you will have to pay for advertising ( which can cost a fortune ) but there is still no gaurentee that you will get any customers for quite a while, that is how these people work, they take your lump sum and then they just wait for you to do all the work, ( money for nothing ) - its great if your on the recieving end, but no good if you are the poor sod that has just paid out a fortune

Re: Hi I am new and need advice
I personally think you would be better off starting a web design business as you first thought you might do and then buy hosting for each domain name that you make a website for. When you then have 20~ domains being hosted review the situation and then consider a reseller account.
