Re: how to point to nameservers?
If you registered your domain and hosting from the same site / company, then you don't need to worry about nameservers. These are just if you have hosting elsewhere, and need to point the domain in that direction.
Just sit tight and wait for everything to go through (max 24 hours like you say). If it's still not working by then, start bugging your host!

Re: how to point to nameservers?
Hi Stormraven.
1) You need to log in to GoDaddy (They will have sent you an account number in one of the emails) and you will have a password. 2) Find your way to 'My Account' and click on 'Manage Domains' 3) There will be a bar at the top of your screen, with lots of options. One of them should say 'Change DNS' (I think, or it might be 'Change Nameservers') 4) Click on the button, and add your custom nameservers in.

Re: how to point to nameservers?
Sounds like you need to get on to godaddy pronto if their web site is not accepting your name servers. Ask them to help you, just in case you "might" have missed something.

Geeze, you would think the hosting company would know that wouldnt you? Not all registrar's need the IP addresses of the name servers as they are good enough to figure it out for themselves, but some registrar's do ask for the IP's if they also set GLUE records too, but godaddy doesnt need them. Hold on, why am I correcting your own hosting company? Anybody see something wrong with this picture? Dreamhost take his money, and we provide the support

Maybe choose wesh next time ey Two of the boxes on the nameservers page have asteriks by them, but only two and i had 4 NS in the email. I put them in the box, all four, without the IP's, press ok. Log out and then back in again, and the ones i entered still dont stay there, only the default ones still appear in the box, both the default ones Last edited by Stormraven; Jun 23rd, 2008 at 17:00. |

Just out of interest, are you with Dream-hosting.co.uk or Dreamhost.com, both are different companies?
