Question about VPS & Dedicated Server

If you buy a dedicated server can you make it into a few VPS?

If you have "Bought" your own server and have colocated it, you can do anything you like with it.
You need the VPS software though. Do you have that?

Have you asked your host this question?

Isnt it always the first point of contact if you have questions about your service, you go to the service provider?

Or do you have one of those totally unmanaged servers where your on-your-own as long as its not down?

Yes i got it a fantisic price, but its defend yourself type of thing lol - The only reason i bought it because of the price and the spec!! :-)
I normally work things out by myself, however i am stumped at some things, so just asking about that's all.

Ahh ok, thats 5 forums today so far I've encountered where people are having problems with services, and when I asked everybody, thay have all said they chose based totally on price!

Maybe we should just lower all of our own prices and sack our support staff? lol
Looks like we would have far more customers if we did....?

Thats the way to go, most people look at price!!! lol - Let me give you the spec of my server and price and you tell me if you would have done the same

I never EVER by any services based totally on price alone. When your renting services, you have to ask yourself what will happen if something goes wrong? If I was running that company, could I provide first class service and employ good quality staff for that money?

If you cant, then chances are, neither can the company your dealing with.

We dont base our hosting on being the cheapest because any idiot can do that, and leave you in the dark when you need them, we know because we have a lot of customers jump ship from companies that already do this (Some of them are the biggest in the UK)

Like car insurance....
do you pick the cheapest insurer blindly, or do you pick the one that will actually pay out should you have an accident, and cover your legal cost's should the third party try to take you to court?

So come on, who did you take your server with?

Are you trying to setup VPS's to sell on and start your own hosting company?
