US provider or not...?
Hello,
is a US provider preferred rather than a UK provider? I feel unsafe paying in $ but seem to get the impression that that is normal...? what if i have trouble and need support? i need hosting...actually also a domain name. am a starter and need to be sure that i have enough support and do not pay out of my pocket. please advice. |

Re: US provider or not...?
I'm based in Melksham, UK, and host some of my domains on a server in California. Service is impeccable - dial their number for support, it answers after 4 rings, and you're straight throught to a geek who knows what he's talking about, any time of day or night.
I will say that the particular ISP I use provides a service for knowledgable users, and I would NOT recommend them if you don't know (or have access to) someone who can help you through the easy stuff. |

Re: US provider or not...?
have been surfing a bit...saw a company strato-hosting. has free call service also for technical support. had a chat with them-seemed very friendly and ready to help. offer looks good £3.49 , free domain-including .eu, 1 gb web space and 10 gb traffic. extra extra fancy stuff.
anyone heard of them??? |

Re: US provider or not...?
i havnt heard of them.
From a more technical point of view as it is debateable on value for money and support etc. Fact: your websites will be slower hosting in the US. This is due to the latency between the UK and the US although it is not bad much of the time there is a difference. They are still perfectly useable but they will be slightly slower than they would be if they were hosted in the UK. If you want some UK hosting try checking out our site at www.dewetha.co.uk |

Re: US provider or not...?
i did finally go in for strato-hosting only. the prices were the best and i have no complaints about the speed. i wanted to sign up with 1&1 but read a lot of negative remarks about their service. strato-hosting's service is free and prices are better with better features.
cheers! |
