Re: Best place to host

A quick search of the forums is always good before you get everyone telling you their favourite hosts.

It depends on what you need, how much space, how many visitors are you predicted, do you need databases etc?

Personally i use http://whymhost.co.uk/, but everyone has their favourites.

Heres a list of a small sample of forum discussions over hosting, these should help you out.

Re: Best place to host

As I understand you are looking for a web hosting company, right?
If so, I think it's better to start from not very expensive but reputable company say like ServerPoint.com. They have updated their web site significantly and think you will find all necessary features there.

Re: Best place to host

Since you are obviously a noob, I guess you'd better be off with an averaged-sized company as they may give you some hand-walking that you are not likely to get from a giant company.
So look into marblehost.com (money back and response time guarantees, a free domain name in the package), cirtexhosting.com (moneyback guarantee).

Re: Best place to host

No "best place". You need to specify what do you need, what kind of service and support. If you are not familiar with web hosting just go to Wikipedia and spend 30 minutes reading about it. Otherwise you can get fished by someone.

Re: Best place to host

I use hqhost.net shared plans, they are not oversellers definitely, I get a realistic amount of resources for the money I pay them, plus really fast and efficient support, have very few cases to complaint of how my issues were coped with.

Re: Best place to host

What sort of customer support can i expect from Wesh, considering im outside the UK? Do you still offer hosting to non-uk'ers?

Yes, we do and provide hosting to people in the USA, and all over europe, but any further than this normally makes the cost prohibitive, especially in Australia where $3 aus is £1 gbp, so while we dont refuse customers from other countries, we generally dont really get asked due to costs and time differences.

Like I said though, it does happen, as some companies now want to expand into europe and/or the UK, so want to launch web sites aimed at the UK, so need to host them in the UK.

As for "What sort of customer support", well, take a look at our contact us page on our website which will show you all the methods we provide for contacting us, and maybe take a look through webforumz and google for reviews and feedback about us as this might give you an idea of how other customers feel using our services. Sorry if thats not the answer you were hoping for, the question is a little vague.

Re: Best place to host

Best place to host is the Drupal hosting .com.Unfortunately, several hosting companies and their affiliates have chosen to abuse the good will of the Drupal maintainers. The result is that recommendations about hosting companies are not accurate and in some cases even deceptive. We are currently evaluating other support options for hosting companies that will limit abuse.

Re: Best place to host

I would also highly recommend WESH. Wesh are the hosts behind the always-up Webforumz.com and I can contact support any time of day or night but I dont really think I've needed to ever except through circumstances of my own doing...

Judge for yourself.
