Exclamation A new standard of support?

Rackspace were already known for their claim of "fanatical support", but I see that they have recently added a new commitment on their website, promising to deliver customers on 5 key performance criteria. I have not seen any hosts going this far before in their level of commitment, and I wonder if other companies will try to outdo them by promising even more?

I have heard really a lot about Rackspace.com support, I guess what they imply by a new commitment is very close to what Solidhost.com means by pro-active support http://www.solidhost.com/support/pro-active-support/

But Rackspace seem to be the only company who cant tell you how much they will charge you up front until you request a "Quotation"

And no matter how many times you click the "Close" button on the constant live chat pop-up's, they still pop-up repeatedly. VERY PUSHY!!

Maybe they work on a "Charge them what we can get away with"

The prices rackspace charge though, they really do need to make a big deal out of offering the kind of service that most companies already offer as standard without having to rant about it endlessly.

Most of the UK's business's wouldnt be able to afford their prices, just look at their clients..

Richard, the only idea I have about Rackspace.com is that they host Webhostingtalk.com, so judging by WHT uptime can say their should be rather stable and clearly expensive.
@moromara:
Solidhost.com has been in the industry for quite a time, I was just wondering how they allocate support time for clients on dedicated and vps deals? Is it a set amount of hours per month? Or you can open tickets in the help desk time and again?
