Recommend free ftp programs?

Hi

This is my first proper post & I hope I've put it in the right category.

I don't have an ftp package & I'd like to upload my first website to my host server. (They recommend using IE if you don't have any ftp software, but I've tried it & cannot get it to work).

Can you recommend any free ftp software I can download?

You can download a Firefox extension that is a FTP program

For mac = cyberduck
For winders = leechftp

windows - i use smart ftp http://www.smartftp.com/download/

Yeah i use smartFTP as well i think thats probably the best one having tried quite a few others

WS FTP Pro is the best ftp prog but its not free

I have been testing out Coffee Cup FTP and I really like it. The version I'm using is $34 after a 30-day-trial. It has good functionality for a basic guy like me (edit and preview functions). What I like about it is that the interface is extremely clean, intuitive, and easy to follow. I was using CuteFTP and this one is so much cleaner. I've also tried out some free FTP's, like Firefox's. This one is $34 better IMO. I don't know if it queues or not, or how it would do for really heavy industrial work.

There is a free version on TuCows that I haven't tried. AFAIK Coffee Cup has recently changed from a freeware vendor to a shareware vendor. The Tucows version may be identical.

I downloaded LeechFTP & have been using it for a couple of days now, so I've been able to upload my first website & make it live!!!

About Smart FTP, I have it installed, I cant seem to use it. Anyone help?

What problem are you having with it?

I cant seem to navigate around to my folder so I can upload it to my webhost, when im connected the contents of the directory my ftp is set to shows up in both windows/ sections of the FTP.

You should be able to navigate your own computer folder wether offline or online.

When you click on folders on the left they dont change?

There arent any folders, just the same content as there is on the right section.

You are most likely inside a folder which has nothing in it.

Try messing with the left box to navigate to your hard drive.
