Which CPU to choose?
I have found an interesting CPU comparison chart from ServerPoint.com and would like to hear your opinion about it, community. Do you agree with that info?
Thanks.

Re: Which CPU to choose?
Whilst not trying to sound like an Intel zealot, IMO ever since C2D and Quad Core, Intel are top of the game. And that CPU chart is about as useful as a chocolate teapot

I use an E6600 - does the job beautifully. Plus they're ace for overclocking

Re: Which CPU to choose?
I have to agree about the core 2 / quad CPU's from Intel. I am building a new pc and have everything except the HDD and CPU already built.
I will be getting a quad core next month.

Re: Which CPU to choose?
Were now rolling out Quad core Xeon CPU's and there absolutely the muts nuts for Database usage too. Combine that with SAS drive RAID5 and our new MySQL5 servers are super uber fast...

Re: Which CPU to choose?
I can't get what Serverpoint.com is trying to explain by this chart, is this the number of each type of processors clients buy from them?

Re: Which CPU to choose?
Its only meant as "eye candy" as it doesnt have any numerical data on it at all.
Just a visual representation that some CPU's are better than others.

Re: Which CPU to choose?
But still "better" for their clients for some or other reasons and not in general?

Re: Which CPU to choose?
ServerPoint.com states that if your applications are more database driven, or you will use the server for gaming, then dual core and multi processors are a good choice. Is it just because gaming demands much CPU and bandwidth?

I guess yes. Gaming needs much CPU and bandwidth. ServerPoint.com gives a right chart IMO.

Re: Which CPU to choose?
Thanks for your input.
Those advise from ServerPoint.com are helpful for the beginners and for those who won't buy more CPU than necessary consequently pay less money for not consumed resources.
