where has the hosting support gone
ive been searching for a new shared post, and every one i come across one it has terrible reviews from customers. ICDsoft.com is the only shared host that doesn't have a whole ton of bad reviews.
So where did good support go? What is the internet coming to?

Re: where has the hosting support gone
You know, thats exactly the same thing I said when I started WESH all those years ago.
Couldn't find a good host for love nor money, so we extended our web business to hosting too, and have never seen or heard a bad review ever since. I do believe, the last time we checked, there are some really awsome reviews about us in various places around the web. One of our customers even bragged about us on the "innocent drinks" website and I quote: Quote:

Re: where has the hosting support gone
I think WESH is the only host I can raise by phone day or night in an emergency.
I actually called richard once at silly o clock by mistake thinking it was someone else. I was both suprised and impressed he even answered. However, I knew very well of WESH before Webforumz got hosted by them - I challenge anyone to search the web and find a bad review - there are none. I'm not just saying that because they host webforumz - I have client sites with WESH and cant ever remember once logging into support - i dont even know my login details.

Re: where has the hosting support gone
It might be a good idea to look for hosts offering response time guarantee, it's usually stated in their TOS, and you can find one here http://www.talkfreelance.com/showthread.php?t=49202 it's about Marblehost.com

Re: where has the hosting support gone
I cant really speak for marblehost to be honest, but there are lots of people who seem happy with them, and lots who are not however, a response time guarantee, uptime guarantee etc, etc is something all hosts should have.

Re: where has the hosting support gone
It's more important to see what they mean by "response", so it's always worth checking yourself, say by asking pre-sales questions.

Re: where has the hosting support gone
I'm a client myself, but understand what hosts or rather their support feel when clients want to get responses to ALL their questions, you know sometimes it's difficult to tell newbies where to go and what button to press when it's all written in the manual.

Re: where has the hosting support gone
A very well written welcome email often helps, but even then, you'de be amazed at how many customers still ask lots of questions for information which is actually all in their welcome emails.
Things like, "Whats my name servers" or "Whats the name of the mail server" or "Can you tell me my FTP username and password" (All of which we highlight in the welcome emails, detailing clearly what its all for... I guess you can give a customer all the information in the world, but some of them will never read any of it. Thats why its good to have a phone number, so customers canjust pickup the phone and ask all those quick little niggling questions. We dont mind though, its nice to actually hear from customers and put voices to names :-)

Re: where has the hosting support gone
Most bigger or middle sized web hosting companies outsource their support to 3rd parties and to people who have nothing to do with web hosting. Sometimes those who provide outsourced support don't know much about web hosting and about the company they work for.
Of course many companies claim to have real 24x7 support but they do provide it. But i think that there are still many quality web hosts... just need to know them! |
