UK Hosting Sites

Further to the other thread below, it looks as though that because I want my sites to show up in UK only searches i will need a UK based host. Anyone got a recommendation? I need a package that will allow more than one website/domain to use the same hosting and something that comes close to Site5 in terms of spec and price....!!

UK hosting is never cheaper then US hosting in my experience. I would go with vT16.com. Their specs are a little lower than site5's, but they have great support and 99% uptime. I have four websites hosted on one package with them.

It all depends on what type of website you are planning to host.

I thought you were included in uk searches if you had *.uk

If you want to target UK searches then try to get co.uk or .uk domain also get a host from UK having server located in UK itself ( as we have ) also try to get backlinks from more relevant UK based sites......

Bandwidth requirement depends on the content and traffic of a site, if you have huge graphics and heavy video in your site with thousands of visitor then you are in need of a better bandwidth;

Padraig, is v16 really good on the help side? I have just switched my host on August 6 and so far out of 3 support tickets raised, I havent had a reply to one! I checked out their site and saw your testimonial on the front page, so I guess you are pretty happy. I'm not looking for anything special at present, just a bit of hand holding when needed.

Please let me know I am seriously considering bailing out after only 2 weeks with this host!

Actually, thats a fake testimonial. I didn't say any of those things, and I definetly didn't give permission to put it up.

vT16 have new owners now, so I'm not sure whats going to happen to it.

Another good reason why the reviews websites can help because they email the customer direct and a customer has to "verify" that they have submitted a review by clicking a link in their email.

Having testimonials on your own website is pretty worthless really, unless it can be seen to be a "Reflection" of genuine reviews from elsewhere on the web.

No .... not all review site follow such procedure, some just copy-paste them from forums.

Regarding testimonial you should not rely on them most are fake better have hosting feedback through popular hosting forums as DP - WHT etc....

Well we've just purchased some new servers from Dell and there is no way we're paying to ship them to new york.

I think that is because our site is hosted independantly - although I thought we had left Said Inc a few months ago so I will be looking into that.

then what is your website doing in America?

(I Just did an IP whois from dnsstuff that told me new york) but at least it got the coutry right.
