Ok, I've done some searching and reading on this subject, and it appears that the 'pages from the UK' option will look at where the IP address is located, what the domain name is (i.e. .co.uk) and any links to the site from UK Directories - my understanding being that a site just has to meet one of those criteria in a UK context to be included. However, there seemed to be lots of people grumbling out there on blogs and forums that the results with this are sometimes inconsistent and change for no apparent reason.

I couldn't find an actual definitive answer on Google's own site about how they make the selection!

I am hosted with site5 and my website (marcfraser.co.uk) is top for UK only searches when you search `marc fraser`. If that helps!

Yes, that does help because that clarifies that UK pages only searches will look at the .co.uk and not just where it's hosted. Good to have that confirmed because that's relevant for something I'm doing too, thanks.

So it works both ways. As Webforumz is hosted in the UK and has a .com domain name. Webforumz ranks top and I do mean top in UK searches.

Me searching Google.co.uk for Web Forum. Webforumz is number 1!
