reliable host with mysql and telephone support

Has anyone tried and tested a good host company thats reliable has phone support and has add ons like mysql. Would also like some stats. Have been using low cost names but was thinking about moving to fasthost (http://www.fasthosts.co.uk/)
Has anyone used them?
Any advise yes please

I did have the unfortunate time of using them for a windows account.
Some people have no problems but i did.

Just a bit of info for you, each mysql db has to be paid for seperately, their 'admin panel' is very very limited. Nothing like a standard control panel.

I personally use www.clook.net They are uk based, cheap and ive had no problems with them.

I have a fasthosts reseller account and have had no problems with them for many years, however many people do have problems with them, sometimes it just seems to be the luck of the draw!

It depends if you draw the short straw and wind up on a fasthosts server with loads of sites running hefty applications and hammering bandwidth.

From tests people have carried out in the past (ie... write to a text file using application_onstart within global.asa) it was determined that their windows servers restarted with an alarming frequency.... coupled with complaints I've heard about the customer service people it all makes sense..... they cant fix an issue or rather don't know how... so their fix???.... reboot the server. just imagine with some servers loaded up with over 300+ sites how that can affect uptime.

Now don't get me wrong... this is now quite old information (I've had no dealings with them for ages) and I have no idea what they are like now and can't comment on uptime percentages or indeed tech support knowledge.... I think if anyone were to use them, then strong investigation outside of this forum would be needed.

I have not noticed that reboot problem at all to be honest, everything is running on windows 2003 which automatically restarts processes which are consuming alot of memory.

Also today Fasthosts launched a new control panel and an API which gives you full control over the control panel from your own website, so if you are a reseller you can sell hosting space while you sleep. They also provide full examples of the API in classic asp, asp.net and php.

I used fasthost for about a year, only because my contract was with them, once it ended I moved away. I found my site was down more often than not, and when calling their support I was on hold for ages, and when eventually getting through to someone, they couldn't fix my problem and just gave me a ticket number. When your site is down, the least you want is them to acknowledge the problem, but no such luck.

I've since moved my site to http://www.lrhosting.net, you might want to give them a once over. I requsted a MySQL v5 database from them the other day and it was setup pretty much right away. I've used both their windows and linux hosting and had no problems. The main thing for me, is when i call them i get a technician on the other end that actaully fixes my problem
