We, at XcellenceIT, have a different dilemma now.
Do you think that having chosen XcellenceIT as a brand name for a web design company is correct? We want to suggest with the name the fact that we do a great job, and we're in the business of IT. OK, the reason for choosing the name also had something to do with the fact that the domain was available. I was wondering if you think that we succeeded in creating a right kind of atmosphere withe the web site's name. So, what's your opinion on XcellenceIT name? Any input will be highly appreciated. |

Re: Do you consider XcellenceIT to be a properly chosen name?
I've come to the conclusion (feel free to argue) that naming doesn't particularly matter... If people like a product, they'll use it - if the name is too long, they'll abbrieviate; if the name doesn't suit, they'll use another... the company and product sell a name, not the other way round.
Google recently renamed 'Froogle' to 'Google Products', as they felt the naming strategy was losing them customers (based on such enterprises as Google Maps - simple name, very successful). It seems like such a bizarre reason to me, more like a poor man's exuse for bad marketing. (If they hadn't noticed, 'Google' didn't have much relation to searching before they came along). Ah well, what's in a name? |

Well, if you do want to use that name, I think you might want to concider shortening it..
xlnit taken xlentit available.... Take what you have, fiddle with it, and make sure you come up with a killer logo and an excellent web page and you will be good to go.

I would suggest perhaps 'xlenit' instead - I know it really shouldn't but the last part of the name sticks out to me

Please don't yell but I feel like Snow. Except I think it is the website that can make or break a company. If your website sucks I am leaving and am not going to think twice about it. Build a cool website, people will bookmark the domain.

I wasn't shouting, Jacob. I typed it wrong. Certain letter were suppose to be capped.

We've changed our main brand name from XcellenceIT in Cratima Interactive, but we still keep XcellenceIT, because people still contact us for this name.
